anamaia is the other half of my name — a slower side of me that found its voice after I became a mother.
My work is deeply rooted in childhood memories and the quiet nostalgia of growing up in Portugal. I remember witnessing the recurrent gatherings of women at my grandma’s house, usually after lunch for coffee and biscuits, where they would chat and work on their needlework projects. It is no surprise then by the age of 6, I was already stitching, crocheting and knitting.
After 12 years working in architecture and sustainability, under my name Filipa Oliveira, I began to feel the urge to create something more personal and creative. When I became a mother, everything shifted, time changed shape and my priorities softened.
My hands needed to make, not just design.
anamaia grew from that space, where it relies on traditional crafts and cultural rituals that shaped me. Based in London, I create hand-embroidered pieces that carry meaning, emotion and memory, stitched into natural fibers, slowly and with care.
Thank you for being here.
